I am Chanka Perera, a free software enthusiastic and long time Linux user. I have been involved in free software and Unix for five six years. Currently working as Sysadmin on different flavors of Unix's at Virtusa Corporation. This allows me to get paid for the work i used to do for fun. Last five years i spend my life doing sysadmin work and currently managing a datacenter which has several databases on different Hardware platforms. And in the spare time you can find me reading mailing list archives, shashdot , google alerts , tech-news when not listing to soft-rock music.
The three machines which help me to do my work at home 266Mhz and 800 Mhz Intel processors with 256 and 512 ram running multiple OS's which I used to change time to time. Today when I booted up i found it have SunOS 5.9/Fedora Core1/FreeBSD 5.2/Windows98/200 spread on several GB's of HD space and my new Laptop running Gentoo 2004.3 booted 2.6.9 kernel where I used to do lot of reading on hi-tech computing. We are having variety of high end servers running, Linux /SunOS/AIX/Tru64/HP-UX / NetBSD and Windows in Data Center at Office.
I m currently using following HW architectures running above OS's. Sun Enterprise 420R,V240 / IBM pSeries RS 6000 / IBM Enterprise H80 / RS 6000, HP L1000 / Dell Power Edge 2650 / 1150 / 750, Compaq DS20E servers / ML350.
